I started looking at 1950's Sci Fi Cinema .....

Amanda Head: The installations/sculptures I create highlight the frisson between fiction and non fiction. They are temporary arrangements that reveal the terrain of my imagination, inviting the viewer into a space of speculation and sensation. My work originates, as a result of, exploring the inherent qualities within the materials I manipulate. I often discover through this process, that information, ideas and feelings, become sublimated into form and humour. My current work has developed through a combination of looking at the artist Eva Hesse, the relationship between art and science and exploring the qualities of Latex. It is inspired by 1950s cinema, which saw the genre of Sci Fi establish itself, with films such as Destination Moon and The Blob.
